FAQ's
I want to design my own engagement ring, where do i start?
At Cherish Jewellery, we wish to offer bespoke rings that truly symbolise your relationship. Our bespoke approach implies that we give you the freedom to create a one-off ring that is just yours. We work within your set budget and give you control over every element of the design process and work with you offering support and design expertise throughout. We offer in-person consultations at our Leeds Office which can be booked here. Or Virtual consultations which can be booked here.
I already have a diamond, can you design a ring with my stone?
Definitely, we do this frequently. We can work with loose stones or even reset diamonds or gemstones from other completed pieces of jewellery. If you have already purchased a diamond, or you have a diamond that’s very sentimental to you, please don’t hesitate to ask about what we can create for you.
What are Lab Grown Diamonds?
Lab diamonds are a human made alternative to traditionally earth mined diamonds and are considered 100% real diamonds, chemically, physically and visually identical to those found in nature. The natural growth of a diamond is simulated under lab conditions. We use HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) and CVD (chemical vapour deposition). The only way a mined and lab grown diamond can be told apart is using sophisticated machines like DiamondSure and DiamondView, which uses UV radiation to essentially scan the diamond for tell tale signs it has been formed in a lab.
Are your diamonds certified?
All the diamonds we source for you, both for the bespoke process and website purchases come with an IGI (International gemological institute) or GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certificate. Every diamond is inscribed with its corresponding certificate number for your assurance.
Can i select my own stone?
For any bespoke piece we work to your personal price point and source a selection of stones at varying carat/colour/clarity so you can see what exactly we can achieve within the price range you have given. You can then view videos and certificates of these stones, if none of these are perfect we will source another few stones once we know which diamond specification is most important to you.
When will i be updated on my bespoke order?
Once we have started the manufacturing process there will be a while where you may not hear from us, please don't worry! This means your piece is going through the casting process, this can take up to 3 weeks depending on whether the initial cast was a success. Once it is out of casting and has been assembled and polished ready for setting, this is when we send over your first update to inform you we are moving onto the stone setting stage, we will then give you an approximate delivery date. When your ring is completed you will receive a second update with some videos and pictures to tell you your ring is ready for collection or postage. Once a balance payment has been received we endeavour to post out within 2 working days (if payment is received before 3pm). We know this is an exciting and anxious time but please be patient and wait for our definitive updates.
When will i be updated on my Website order?
Once we have received your order, production will start the following working day. Please don't worry if you are not given updates as website pieces are always running through production in the background. Timescales are given on each product page and you will be updated by email when your piece is complete and ready for shipping. You will then receive a shipping confirmation within 2 working days with your tracking details.
I don't know my partners finger size, what can you do?
If there is another ring that your partner wears comfortably on the ring finger of their right hand, that can often be a good indicator of size, alternatively if you know roughly where their ring sits on your finger, that can also help us in getting the size as close as possible. These techniques however only help us to achieve our best guess and will not be a perfect size match. This is why we include a complementary ring resize with the purchase of every Cherish Jewellery ring.
Do you have a guarantee on your Jewellery?
Yes every piece of Cherish Jewellery, whether purchased through our bespoke process or off the website directly comes with a lifetime guarantee and warranty. The details of which can be viewed here.
Can you design a wedding ring to match my engagement ring?
Of course we can, Cherish Jewellery is primarily a bespoke jeweller so we can design anything around an existing ring, wether we have made the ring or not. If it is a ring we have not made we will need to scan the ring so we can create a 3D model to design the wedding ring around to ensure the fit between both is as flush as possible. For wedding bands that sit alone, we offer a wide range of designs to suit any individual, all of which can be ordered online or of course be customised to suit your tastes.
How long does it take to make a bespoke ring?
The manufacturing process (once a design has been approved by you for production) for a bespoke ring takes between 3 to 6 weeks to be completed, depending on the level of detail in your design. Of course don't let this scare you away, if you need the ring urgently, or by a specific date, please let our team know and we can expedite your order for a fee.
When will i receive my website order?
Every product page has a delivery & shipping tab which is individual to that product, which will tell you how long the piece will take to make and the timescale in which we endeavour to deliver. If you need your piece for a specific date please let us know before you place the order and we can expedite for a fee (if the date is within 2-3 weeks). Please note once an order has gone into manufacturing it is not possible to cancel.
How do I pay for a bespoke design?
To create a bespoke design with Cherish Jewellery we require a 50% deposit once you have accepted a quote. We do prefer a bank transfer payment as we quote all bespoke pieces without card/website fees, if you want to pay by card the associated fees will be added. We are happy to discuss our designs, prices and our bespoke process with you outside of a monetary commitment, however we do require a deposit to secure your diamond, create an accurate 3D rendered images of your design and ultimately manufacture your piece. The remaining 50% is due upon completion of your piece. We can also offer a Lay-Away plan, should you be interested. At Cherish Jewellery there is no additional cost for altering your design or creating new 3D rendered images of design alternatives before production commences.
I’ve changed my mind about creating a bespoke piece, can my deposit be refunded?
Due the immense amount of work that has been undertaken by our team in designing your piece (included but not limited to sourcing and the order of diamonds or other gemstones to your specifications, creating detailed and accurate 3D renders and production of your piece) the 50% deposit required for bespoke designs is non refundable. Any additional payments made will be refunded.
Do you provide cleaning or care for your jewellery sold?
All jewellery purchased from Cherish Jewellery whether online or through the bespoke process is eligible for a complimentary clean and polish every year. You may also return your engagement ring to us for free diamond claw tightening, polishing, rhodium plating and cleaning before your wedding day. Contact our team for more information or to book this in here.
Can you engrave my ring?
Is the bespoke process more expensive than a website piece?
The minimum budget we work with for the bespoke process is £1,500 for Engagement Rings or £1,000 for jewellery/wedding rings. Because everything about the process is custom, you tell us your budget and we will adjust the materials/design/stones to accommodate this. Every piece is made in our Hatton Garden Workshop so we have all the power over the materials going into your piece. You can work with our designers as long as it takes, never at an additional cost. So no, bespoke is not more expensive than a website piece.
What is the difference between Platinum and White Gold?
Platinum and white gold are both popular choices for fine jewelry, especially engagement rings and wedding bands, but they differ in composition, durability, and appearance over time.
Platinum is a naturally white metal making it a low-maintenance option, dense, and highly durable to scratches. It's hypoallergenic and doesn’t fade, it can 'patina' over time to a matte finish.
White gold is made by alloying yellow gold with white metals like palladium, platinum or nickel and is usually coated with rhodium to give it a bright white finish. Over time, the rhodium layer can wear off, requiring re-plating to maintain its appearance. It’s generally more affordable depending on karat and lighter than platinum.
What payment methods do you accept?
For bespoke orders we calculate your quote without card or website fees so we prefer Bank Transfer payment for Deposit/balance. If you would like to pay by card we would need to add the associated fees to your quote. For website pieces we accept all major credit/debit cards (visa, mastercard, amex), Klarna and PayPal.
Do you offer Financing?
The only finance options we can provide is Klarna (pay next month, pay in 3 monthly instalments) on pieces up to the price of £2,000. We also offer a Lay-Away plan if you did not need your ring straight away, deposit minimum is 30% followed by monthly instalments up to a maximum duration of 6 months.
